How the extension is organized
Unfollow for TikTok is a Manifest V3 extension that opens in the Chrome side panel next to the tiktok.com tab you are already logged into. It has five tabs: Unfollow, Likes, Comments, Stats and PRO. Everything runs through your own session — there is no password form, no sign-up and nothing to configure before the first session. The three action modes share the same safety layer (random delays, breaks, daily limits, automatic cooldowns), and every decision the extension makes is written to a live log with its reason, so you can always see why an account was removed, liked, commented on or skipped.
Unfollow: who gets removed and who is protected
The Unfollow tab reads your own Following list, newest first, and removes accounts one by one. Before each removal it runs a fixed sequence of checks: Safe List → 7-Day Grace Period → Skip Mutual Followers → filters → Manual Confirm → hourly pace limit. An account stopped by any one of them is skipped, the skip appears in the log with its reason, and it costs nothing — the daily limit counts only unfollows that actually went through. The protections are cumulative: matching a single one is enough to be left alone, and the Safe List is checked first, so a protected account is untouchable no matter what the other settings say.
| Protection | What it prevents | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Safe List (protected accounts) | Removing a specific person you care about, whether or not they follow you back | Every plan · one-click snapshot on PRO |
| Skip Mutual Followers | Removing someone who follows you back — the cleanup touches non-followers only | Every plan |
| 7-Day Grace Period | Removing someone you followed this week, before they had time to follow back | Every plan |
| Manual Confirm | Any removal you did not personally approve | Every plan |
| Filters (followers, following, videos, verified) | Touching accounts outside the profile you meant to clean up | Every plan |
| Hourly pace limit | A burst that looks scripted even when you are under your daily limit | Always on |
| Sample check (every 5th unfollow) | Counting removals that TikTok accepted and then silently restored | Always on |
| "Too fast" stop + cooldown | Retrying into a block and making the next block longer | Always on |
| Verification stop | Clicking through a TikTok check the way a script would | Always on |
Skip Mutual Followers — cleanup that only touches non-followers
With this on, everyone who follows you back is left untouched and only non-followers remain eligible. The follow-back status is checked live, per account, at the moment the session reaches it — not from a list exported days ago. One honest detail: if the status of an account cannot be determined, the extension skips that account and logs it as unknown rather than guessing. Skipping is the safe side; it never treats missing data as "does not follow you". This is the setting behind the classic "unfollow only the people who don't follow me back" workflow, described step by step on the mass unfollow page.
7-Day Grace Period — fresh follows get their chance
Follow-backs usually arrive in the first days after a follow. The grace period skips every account you followed within the last 7 days, so a cleanup never removes someone who was still deciding. The Following list comes newest first, and the boundary is rounded in your favor: a page of the list that straddles the 7-day line is treated as recent and skipped entirely. Turn the grace period off only when you are deliberately undoing follows from the last week.
Protected accounts — the Safe List
"Never unfollow these." Add any username — friends, family, clients, creators you follow for the content — and no session will ever remove it, whether or not they follow you back. The Safe List is checked before everything else.
- Every plan: add usernames by hand, as many as you need, and remove them again at any time.
- PRO — "Protect everyone I follow right now": one click takes a snapshot of your whole current following and puts every account on the Safe List. Ideal before a first big cleanup, because from then on sessions only ever consider people you follow after the snapshot. The snapshot is point-in-time: accounts you follow later are not added automatically.
- Storage: the Safe List lives in your browser's extension storage. It survives browser restarts and extension updates; uninstalling the extension deletes it.
Manual Confirm — you approve every unfollow
For full control, switch on Manual Confirm. The session pauses at each eligible account and shows a bar on the tiktok.com page with the username and whether that account follows you; you click approve or skip. It is slower by design and nothing happens without you. Manual Confirm combines with everything else: the Safe List, grace period and filters still run first, so you are only ever asked about accounts that already passed them.
Filters — the accounts the cleanup is allowed to touch
The filters narrow the cleanup to the kind of account you mean. A field left at 0 is off; any account caught by an enabled filter is skipped and logged as such.
| Filter | In plain English |
|---|---|
| Min Followers | Leave small accounts alone — for example, keep following creators who are just starting out |
| Max Followers | Leave big accounts alone — celebrities and brands you follow for the content, not for a follow back |
| Min Following | Only consider accounts that follow at least this many people themselves |
| Max Following | Only consider accounts that follow fewer than this many people |
| Remove accounts with no videos | The one filter that targets instead of protects: an empty profile is removed even if it follows you back (Safe List, grace period and Manual Confirm still apply) |
| Skip verified accounts (on by default) | Never unfollow a verified account — the big creators you follow for content rarely follow back and would otherwise be the first to go |
Two rules worth spelling out. First, filters run before the action, so a filtered account never costs you one of your daily unfollows. Second, every skip is visible: the live log shows the username and the reason (protected, grace period, follows you back, unknown, filter), so there are no silent decisions.
History and CSV export
Every unfollow is written to a history with the username and the time it happened. The whole history exports to a CSV file for Excel or Google Sheets, so you always have a record of who was removed and when — useful if you ever want to follow someone again by hand. The CSV export is available on every plan.
Auto Like: feeds, hashtags, watch time and Skip Ads
The Likes tab likes videos the way a person does: it opens them, watches, then taps the heart. You choose the source — your For You feed, your Following feed, or any hashtag you type in.
- Watch time: each video plays for 3–8 seconds before it is liked. Likes without watch time are exactly what triggers "You're tapping too fast", so the extension never skips this step.
- Skip Ads: sponsored videos are detected and passed without a like, so your likes never land on an advertiser's promoted content.
- Pace: 8–20 seconds between each like, with a break every 15.
- Limits: 7 likes per day on the free plan; up to 200 likes per day on PRO, set with a slider.
Full details, including which source works best for which goal, are on the auto like page.
Auto Comment: your own words, strict rotation rules, Skip Ads
The Comments tab opens the videos of a hashtag you choose and posts comments you wrote yourself. There is no generated text: you maintain a list — add to it, remove from it — and each video receives one entry picked at random.
- Rotation rules: the same text never goes out twice in a row, and no video ever receives a second comment from you, even across sessions.
- Watch time: each video plays for 4–9 seconds before the comment is posted.
- Also Like: optionally likes the video it comments on, in the same visit.
- Skip Ads: sponsored videos are never commented on.
- Pace: 20–45 seconds between each comment, rounds of 5–8, 10–20 minutes between rounds.
- Limits: 7 comments per day on the free plan; up to 50 comments per day on PRO (the slider starts at a default of 20).
Comments are public and carry your name, so we recommend running the first session on a test account and reading your list twice before you start. The auto comment page has examples of comment lists that read naturally.
Pacing and safety: the layer under everything
Bursts are what get accounts restricted — "You're following too fast" and "You're tapping too fast" are TikTok telling you exactly that. Unfollow for TikTok is built the opposite way. Human pace lowers the odds; it is not a promise, and anyone claiming zero risk from automation is not being straight with you. Here is precisely what the pacing layer does.
Delays, breaks and rounds
- Unfollow: a random 5–15 seconds between each unfollow, a 2–5 minute break every 10, rounds of 18–25, and 32–62 minutes between rounds.
- Likes: 3–8 seconds of watch time, 8–20 seconds between each like, a break every 15.
- Comments: 4–9 seconds of watch time, 20–45 seconds between each comment, rounds of 5–8, 10–20 minutes between rounds.
Auto-Day Mode and the daily limits
Each mode has its own daily limit — independent ceilings for unfollows, likes and comments that the extension will never exceed. Auto-Day Mode spreads the day's budget across several rounds with natural gaps, so a day of activity looks like a person who checks the app a few times, not one long session. The limits are enforced on our side as well as in the browser: only your TikTok user ID and daily action counts sync to our server, and that is what the daily limits are checked against.
Hourly pace limit for unfollows
On top of the daily limit there is a rolling hourly ceiling on unfollows that no slider can raise. Observed tolerance on TikTok is a modest number of actions per hour, and a day's budget crammed into one hour is the most common way people get a block. When the hourly ceiling is reached, the session waits for the window to roll on and shows the countdown.
Sample check that unfollows actually stuck
TikTok sometimes accepts an unfollow and silently restores it. So after every 5th unfollow the extension waits a few seconds and re-reads that account. If the unfollow was reverted, it is treated as a refusal: the session stops and the cooldown below begins, instead of racking up a count that is not real.
"Too fast" stop and automatic cooldown
After every write the extension reads the page for TikTok's "too fast" message. If it appears — even when the request technically succeeded — the action is treated as refused and the mode stops at once. The cooldown then escalates:
- First refusal: that mode pauses for 2 hours with a visible countdown. Nothing is retried.
- Second refusal within 7 days: the mode pauses for 24 hours and that day's limits are halved.
- Cooldowns are per mode: a refused like never stops your unfollows, and a refused comment never stops your likes.
Retrying immediately after a block is what makes the next one longer, which is why the cooldown cannot be skipped. What the messages mean and how long real blocks last is covered in action blocked on TikTok.
Verification stop
If TikTok shows a verification — a slider or rotate puzzle, which appears more readily on tiktok.com than in the app — the extension stops and asks you to solve it yourself on tiktok.com. It never tries to pass a check for you. Once you are through, start the session again.
Pause, resume and page reloads
Every session can be paused and resumed from the side panel and continues exactly where it stopped, with the remaining budget intact. The paused state survives a reload of the tiktok.com tab; a running session is interrupted by a reload, because it lives inside that page, and continues when you press Start again.
Stats and logs
The Stats tab draws a chart of everything the extension did for you per day — unfollows, likes and comments — with 7-day, 1-month and 3-month views and all-time totals. During a session the side panel shows live progress, a countdown whenever it waits, and the full log with every action and every skip reason. Combined with the CSV export of the unfollow history, you always know what happened on your account and why.
Plans: Free vs PRO
The free plan is not a trial: it renews every day, needs no credit card, and includes every protection and every filter on this page. PRO (€9.99/month) changes the daily limits, adds the one-click protection of your whole list and gives priority support. Payments go through Stripe; cancel anytime and keep access to the end of the paid period.

Which plan fits? If your following list is a few hundred accounts, the free 7 unfollows a day will clear the non-followers over a few weeks with zero cost and zero hurry. For a 2,000-account list, or a feed you want to keep active every day, PRO at €9.99 gets the same work done in days instead of months, with the same protections.
Frequently asked questions
Does a skipped account use up one of my daily unfollows?
No. Every check — Safe List, grace period, mutual check, filters, Manual Confirm — runs before the unfollow request is sent, so a skipped account costs nothing. Your daily limit is spent only on removals that actually went through, which on the free plan means all 7 unfollows land on accounts that passed every check.
What is the difference between the Safe List and Skip Mutual Followers?
The Safe List protects specific people you named — they are never unfollowed, whether or not they follow you back. Skip Mutual Followers protects a group that changes on its own: everyone who follows you back at the moment the session reaches them. Use the Safe List for the accounts that matter regardless of status, and Skip Mutual Followers so the cleanup only touches non-followers.
Does the PRO one-click protection cover people I follow later?
No. Protect everyone I follow right now is a snapshot: it adds every account you follow at the moment you click it, which is ideal before a first big cleanup. Accounts you follow after that are not added automatically — add them by hand if you want them protected forever, or rely on the 7-day grace period and the mutual check.
Are the filters available on the free plan?
Yes. Every protection and every filter — Safe List by hand, Skip Mutual Followers, the 7-day grace period, Manual Confirm, the follower and following ranges, remove accounts with no videos, skip verified accounts, Skip Ads and CSV export — works on the free plan. PRO changes the daily limits, adds the one-click protection of your whole list and gives priority support; it does not unlock hidden filters.
What happens when TikTok refuses an action?
The extension stops that mode immediately and shows a countdown. The first refusal pauses the mode for 2 hours; a second refusal within 7 days pauses it for 24 hours and halves that day's limits. Cooldowns are per mode, so a refused like never stops your unfollows. Nothing is retried during the cooldown, because retrying straight after a block is what makes the next block longer.
Where are the Safe List, my comments and the history stored?
In your browser's extension storage, on your computer. Comment texts, hashtags, the Safe List and the unfollow history stay in the browser; only your TikTok user ID and daily action counts sync to our server, to enforce plan limits. Uninstalling the extension deletes the local data, so export the history to CSV first if you want to keep it.
